In an exclusive interview with Iran Press, Alireza Delkhosh said the purpose of holding a Norouz Diplomacy meeting is to study the issue of political, cultural, and economic interactions through Norouz.
Delkhosh added that the answer to this approach was positive because the cultural sphere was in fact a railroad for mutual understanding of nations and governments.
He said that the issue of Norouz was more than a national phenomenon; it was related to the nations and tribes that participate in holding the Norouz rituals.
He also said that nations and ethnic groups have an important role in cultural, political, economic, and regional integration.
Cultural capacity and global affinities
Scholars and political figures who took part in the one-day meeting said that the Spring Equinox (March 20, 2021) is a cultural event indicating global affinities.
The event was held in the presence of scholars from Iran, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Turkey.
Addressing the event, Iran’s Cultural Attaché to New Delhi Mohammad-Ali Rabbani referred to Norouz rituals, saying Norouz is one of the most important issues which depends on countries’ understanding, according to IRNA.
When it comes to celebrations, the common histories of countries are discussed, he added.
Norouz is rooted in ancient Iranian culture; and for many years there has been a landmark capacity to communicate with the international community based on Norouz.
Rabbani described India as one of the most important areas in recognizing the Iranian cultural character and civilization, saying that Indians respect the people of Iran.
The Iranian diplomat called for taking advantage of cultural affinities for creating close relations between countries.
Thanks to its short distance and the interests between people, India can be a tourist destination for Iranians.
He called for closer consular cooperation, especially on issuing visas.
Meanwhile, Iranian Cultural Attaché to Azerbaijan Qorban-Ali Pour-Marjan said Norouz can be effective in culture and diplomacy.
He referred to the Persian language and Norouz as two important items for promoting diplomacy.
This year, the Spring Equinox falls on March 20.
In the Persian language, Norouz marks the first day of spring and the Persian New Year that is celebrated across the world by various countries, particularly in Afghanistan, Albania, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan.
