COVID-19 claims 94 lives over 24 hours in Iran

Iran’s Health Ministry announced 94 coronavirus patients lost their lives from Wednesday to Thursday bringing the total deaths to 59,830.

According to Iran's Health Ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari, 8,206 new cases were tested positive for COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, IRNA reported.

She added that total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country has reached 1,607,081 after the detection of the 8,206 new cases.

Lari noted that 1,372,308 patients out of a total of 1,607,081 infected people have recovered or been discharged from hospitals.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,712 patients are in critical condition and being treated in intensive care units, the spokeswoman said.

Lari also said over 10.6 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

Since its outbreak, the COVID-19 pandemic has infected about 112 million people across the world, from whom over 2,490,000 people have lost their lives.
