Winners of the 13th Fajr Visual Art Festival were announced in the event’s closing ceremony, which was held in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Thursday.
The ceremony was attended, among others, by Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Abbas Salehi and his deputy for art affairs, Mojtaba Hosseini, IRNA reported.
The festival was held at the Iranian Academy of Arts during February 6-18. However, the venue of the closing ceremony was Vahdat Hall.
The festival featured 10 competition sections of illustration, calligraphy, ceramics, photography, caricature and cartoon, graphic design, sculpture, painting, miniature and new media art (video art, performance art and installation art).
The winners were Abdollah Heidari (photography), Farzaneh Neyshabouri (illustration), Majid Dastani (calligraphy), Ehsan Mahdavi (new media art), Roqayeh Asadi (ceramics), Mehrdad Mousavi (graphic design), Mohammad Aflak (caricature and cartoons), Mostafa Mohseni (sculpture), Mohsen Taqizadeh (painting) and Zahra Doosti (miniature).
Of the 7,753 works participating in this edition of the festival, 2,315 art works from 911 artists were related to the field of photography and 127 from 76 artists took part in the ceramics section.
In addition, 1,757 female artists and 1,484 male artists took part in the fest, showing that a significant percentage of the works belonged to women artists.
During the event, 709 works by 511 artists were showcased at the Academy of Arts.
