US museum offers $1,000 private tours for visitors

The Flagler Museum, Florida, the US, is offering an opportunity for guests who remain wary of visiting museums during the COVID-19 pandemic, to enjoy private self-guided tours for an hour.

The museum's new exclusive access package costs  $1,000 and is available from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., before the regular visiting hours of 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during Tuesday through Saturday, reported.

Flagler’s Executive Director Erin Manning told the Daily News that the museum had received requests for private access to the museum even before the pandemic started.

“We are imagining this package will be used by companies for team-building, or by social clubs or extended family groups who may have a hard time finding activities they can do together safely,” Manning said.

“We have welcomed one group already, and we enjoyed seeing their incredible reactions as they wandered around Whitehall at their own pace, focusing on the art and collections that inspired them most.”

The package allows a maximum of 10 people. Each guest will receive an audio tour wand — as well as paper brochures — to guide them through the museum.

The museum’s store will be open to offer guests a private shopping experience, and shoppers will get a special surprise gift, the museum said in a press release.

Guests will be expected to follow the museum's visitor and CDC guidelines. Masks are required at all times. Because of the pandemic, guests who purchase general admission tickets are limited to four tickets per purchase. The museum is also not offering group tours until further notice.
