Iran’s COVID-19 claims 78 lives in 24 hours

Iran’s Health Ministry announced 78 coronavirus patients lost their lives from Wednesday to Thursday bringing the total deaths to 60,431.

According to Iran's Health Ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari, 8,404 new cases were tested positive for COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, IRNA reported.

She added that total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country has reached 1,665,103 after the detection of the 8,206 new cases.

Lari noted that 1,420,958 patients out of a total of 1,665,103 infected people have recovered or been discharged from hospitals.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,760 patients are in critical condition and being treated in intensive care units, the spokeswoman said.

Since its outbreak, the COVID-19 pandemic has infected about 114 million people across the world, from whom over 2,530,000 people have lost their lives.
