Iranian short film 'Nahid' to be screened at Fribourg festival

Iranian short film ‘Nahid’ was selected to take part in the international competition section of the 35th edition of the Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF) in Switzerland.

The short film has been directed and produced by Samad Alizadeh and Reza Nosrati-Habibi respectively, Mehr News Agency reported.

The competition section of the event will be held in Fribourg, Switzerland, during July 16-25.

The film tells the story of women who have to make extra efforts in order to prove and establish their damaged identities.

FIFF is an annual film festival in Fribourg, Switzerland. It is focused on selected films from Asia, Africa and Latin America. The Grand Prize is the festival’s main award.

FIFF aims to promote the understanding between cultures through films. It gives preferences to productions that stimulate reflection and provoke discussion.

Earlier, it was announced that Iranian short film 'Stain', directed by Shouresh Vakili, won the award for the best movie at the Tryon International Film Festival (TRIFF) in the US, according to IRNA.

The short film is about the issue of human rights and peace. It has been produced in cooperation with the Iranian Youth Cinema Society. The movie was shot in the western Iranian province of Sanandaj.

The film has already received numerous international awards from the US, Indian, Italian, British and Iranian festivals.

‘Stain’ tells the story of an old man in a cinema hall, who faces a strange issue and tries to solve it.

The director of the surreal film has sought to portray and violence.
