Head of Iran’s Headquarters for Executing the Order of Imam Mohammad Mokhber speaks during an inauguration ceremony of a mobile hospital in Tehran on March 9, 2021.

Head of Iran’s Headquarters for Executing the Order of Imam Mohammad Mokhber said on Tuesday that the first phase of human trial of COVIRAN Barekat coronavirus vaccine has showed completely successful results.

“The good news about COVIRAN Barekat vaccine is that in phase one of the clinical trial, the results were unexpectedly good and the human test was 100% successful at this stage,” Fars News Agency quoted Mokhber saying.

The vaccine will be mass-produced late in spring and will be available to the public, he added.

“I promise the people of Iran that there will be no concern about access to coronavirus vaccine in the country in the next two months,” Mokhber said.

Vaccine mass production

Iranian Health Minister Saeed Namaki said on Tuesday that the country will start mass-production of the coronavirus vaccine in the near future and will export it to the other countries in a second step.

"Iran will turn into one of the largest producers of (coronavirus) vaccine in the world this spring and we will become an exporter in a short period of time, just as we turned into an exporter of masks and ventilators from an importer,” Namaki said.

He noted that several Iranian companies are trying to develop coronavirus vaccine.

He also urged the people to refrain from traveling to other cities during Norouz holidays, according to ISNA.

He also warned about the danger of the British COVID-19 variant which has recently spread across the country, especially in the southwestern province of Khuzestan.

Iran’s Health Ministry reported 8,554 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, bringing the total number of new cases to 1,706,559.

Health Ministry’s spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said that the virus claimed the lives of 81 people from Monday to Tuesday, putting the total death toll at 60,867, according to IRNA.

Also on Tuesday, Mokhber inaugurated the largest and most equipped mobile hospital in the country manufactured by the Headquarters for Executing the Order of Imam.

He said that because of the high possibility of the occurrence of floods and earthquakes in Iran, the country needs mobile facilities to quickly provide the people with medical services.
