Iran’s skipper Ehsan Hajsafi is in advanced talks with Sepahan to seal a move to the Persian Gulf Pro League side.

The holding midfielder parted ways with Tractor on Thursday on mutual consent after two-and-a-half seasons with the northwestern Iranian club, which saw him win the Hazfi Cup title last September.

Should the deal go through, it will be a third spell for the 31-year-old in the Isfahan-based team’s outfit, who enjoyed a glittering career during his previous two stints at the club, winning three league titles, as well as three domestic cup trophies.

Hajsafi was also a member of the Sepahan team that reached the AFC Champions League final in 2007, only to fall to a 2-0 defeat against Urawa Red Diamonds of Japan.

The former Olympiacos player made 229 appearances in separate spells for Sepahan, getting on the scoresheet on 31 occasions.

Other top-flight teams Esteghlal and Golgohar Sirjan are also interested in the Iranian international, but Hajsafi – also capable of playing as left fullback – seemingly prefers a move to his boyhood club, with which he was introduced to the Iranian football in 2006.

Sepahan manager Moharam Navidkia – a former teammate of Hajsafi – will surely welcome the deal as his team, seeking a first league title in six years, lacks depth in the holding midfield area.

Sepahan is currently second in the league table on 34 points, trailing Persepolis on goal difference.
