The amended bill for the next Iranian year amounted to about 28.8 quadrillion rials (about $686.2 billion at the official rate of 42,000 rials), according to Mehr News Agency.
The proposed bill for the next year, first submitted to the Parliament in early December 2020, was 24.3 quadrillion rials (about $579.9 billion), with a 20 percent rise from the current Iranian year’s approved budget.
The bill estimated the government’s budget at 9.2 quadrillion rials (about $221.4 billion), while the revised figure is 13.7 quadrillion rials (about $326.9 billion).
Last week, a Parliament’s budget review committee wrapped up its final session for reviewing the details of the national budget bill for the next Iranian year, as announced by the spokesman of the committee.
According to Rahim Zare’, the bill then was submitted to the Constitutional Council for final approval.
The Parliament had rejected the general outlines of the budget bill in early February, urging the government to reform the bill and submit it to the Parliament again.
