The two top diplomats also exchanged views on bilateral political talks, as well as the date and agenda of Iran-Turkey joint economic commission, and mutual trade ties, IRNA reported.
Earlier on Friday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry in a press release announced Zarif’s plan to visit the country to discuss “bilateral relations between Turkey and Iran, as well as current regional and international issues.”
Zarif described his visit to Turkey as “productive” in a Twitter message later on Friday.
"Productive trip to wonderful Istanbul for talks with my brother, FM @MevlutCavusoglu," Zarif tweeted.
"As before, constructive engagement on bilateral and regional issues. Ultimate aim: Apply #Iran and #Turkey's experience of 400 yrs of peace to our region. Together, anything is possible," he added.
