Iran registers 81 COVID-19 related deaths over 24 hours

Iran recorded 81 single-day deaths caused by the COVID-19 from Sunday to Monday, mounting the total national deaths to 62,478, the country’s Health Ministry spokeswoman announced Monday.

Sima Sadat Lari said at her daily press briefing that during the past 24 hours, 9,310 newly diagnosed patients with COVID-19 were identified in Iran and 1,157 of them were hospitalized, IRNA reported.

She added that 1,600,488 patients out of a total of 1,864,984 infected people have recovered or been discharged from hospitals.

Lari regretted that 3,940 other COVID-19 patients are in critical condition.

She added, so far, some 12,682,968 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases.

According to the latest analysis, 23 cities are classified as red zones, and 44 others as orange in Iran.

Since its outbreak, the COVID-19 pandemic has infected over 127 million people across the world, of whom over 2,790,000 people have lost their lives.
