80% of health workers vaccinated

Earlier on Wednesday, Deputy Health Minister Maryam Hazrati said that 80% of the health workers dealing with the COVID-19 patients have so far been vaccinated in Iran.

She said that vaccination is underway in Iran with giving priority to those working in the health sectors, particularly doctors and those working in the intensive care units dealing with the COVID-19 patients.

The official further noted that the vaccination of other citizens, particularly the high-risk groups of people, will be done gradually based on protocols set by the Health Ministry.

Noting that the pandemic has been under control in Iran, Hazrati expressed concern that the travels and visiting relatives during the Norouz (the Iranian New Year) holidays will lead to the fourth wave of the fatal virus.
