City rivals Persepolis and Esteghlal resume their Persian Gulf Pro League campaigns following a two-week international break on Saturday.
Foolad Khuzestan and Aluminium Arak played to a goalless draw in Arak in the opening fixture of the weekend on Thursday.
Second-placed Persepolis will be hoping to move three points clear of Sepahan when playing away to Shahr Khodro, before the Isfahan-based club visits Saipa on Monday.
Goals from Seyyed Jalal Hosseini, Ahmad Nourollahi, Milad Sarlak gave Yahya Golmohammadi’s side a 3-0 victory in the reverse fixture last November.
Trailing Sepahan and Persepolis by four points, Esteghlal will take on Paykan at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, looking for a fourth consecutive victory – including a 2-1 cup win over Saturday’s opponent – under new manager Farhad Majidi.
The two sides shared the points in a goalless stalemate earlier in the season.
Elsewhere, Tractor will play the league’s surprise package Mes Rafsanjan in Tabriz, with struggler Zob Ahan and San’at Naft Abadan squaring off in Isfahan.
Naft Masjed Soleyman will play at home to Nassaji Mazandaran.
On Monday, Golgohar Sirjan faces Mashinsazi.
