Iran’s ‘The Recess’ receives US Oxford award

Iranian short film, ‘The Recess,’ written, produced, and directed by Navid Nikkhah-Azad, received the Best Short Film Award at the Oxford Film Festival (OxFilm) in Mississippi, US.

The short film is the story of a 17-year-old school-girl who runs away from school to watch the football match of her beloved club, ifilmtv.com wrote.

Sahar, along with three of her friends, is planning to exit the school during the break in order to watch the match between Esteghlal FC and Al Ain FC at Azadi Sports Complex.

Mozhan Kordi, Reyhaneh Naieean, Niloufar Shokouhinia, and Ghazal Khalili are in the cast.

The short film participated in several film festivals including the 13th edition of the Sofia MENAR Film Festival (SMFF) in Bulgaria.

OxFilm celebrates the art of independent cinema. Through year-round programming, the festival works to encourage filmmaking in Oxford and North Mississippi as part of the global film community, while cultivating audience appreciation of cinema through screenings, workshops and educational programs that culminate in the annual festival.
