Over 250 films submitted to take part in 38th FIff

The secretariat of the Fajr International Film Festival (FIff) announced that 251 films were submitted to take part in the 38th edition of the event.

The entries include 154 short films, 68 feature films, and 29 documentaries, ifilmtv.com reported.

This major film festival canceled the 38th edition over the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival’s president Mohammad-Mehdi Asgarpour said in May, 2020.

The festival was scheduled to be held in April 2020, however, amid growing concerns over the coronavirus during March 2020, the organizers postponed it to a later time in June, which was also canceled.

On Saturday, Asgarpour announced that the festival’s market section will be held virtually, using a world-renowned platform, and the film section will be held physically, with a limited number of guests.

Since its establishment in 1982, the Fajr festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the festival hosts veteran directors and first-time filmmakers every year.
