“Our two countries share many objectives on regional stability and global nuclear disarmament,” Zarif who is currently in Kazakhstan on a regional tour to the Central Asia wrote in a post on his Twitter account.
“In Kazakhstan on third leg of my regional tour, where I’ve had substantive and fruitful meetings with President Tokayev and FM Tileuberdi,” the top Iranian diplomat said.
He added, “As always, our neighbors are our priority.”
In a meeting with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, held in the capital city of Nur-Sultan (formerly called Astana) on Wednesday, the Iranian foreign minister called for efforts to find ways for sustainable cooperation with Kazakhstan in order to maintain and enhance the bilateral relations, Tasnim reported.
For his part, the Kazakh president referred to Iran as a “key partner” in the region, emphasizing the necessity for the promotion of political and economic cooperation with the Islamic Republic.
The two also signed a 15-article document for cooperation aimed at reinforcing friendly, fraternal and neighborly relations between the two countries based on mutual respect and trust, Press TV wrote
Prior to his visit to Kazakhstan, Zarif visited Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. He is also to pay a visit to Turkmenistan at the last leg of his regional tour.
