Behrouz Kamalvandi said on Thursday that Tehran has registered the average annual production of four tons of yellowcake during the past 15 years, Tasnim reported.
He said the average production of four tons of the uranium concentrate powder increased to 37 tons in the previous year (March 2020 – March 2021).
Kamalvandi said plans have been made to produce 100 tons of yellowcake in the medium term, adding that in order to achieve that goal, Iran needs to design and build two or three more power plants.
He noted that Iran is currently constructing two nuclear power plants with the help of Russia, saying the construction activities in the project and the provision of 15 to 30 percent of the equipment used in the power plants have been undertake by Iran itself.
Iran is among the world’s top seven or eight countries in the nuclear enrichment industry, he stated.
AEOI announced on Wednesday in a statement that Iran will unveil as many as 133 nuclear-related achievements, including radiopharmaceuticals, to mark its upcoming National Nuclear Technology Day (April 9).
Eight of the achievements will be unveiled in person by President Hassan Rouhani, and the rest will be put on display during exhibitions and video-conferences, added the statement.
