Three Iranians were picked by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) among the eight-man shortlist for the best goal of the AFC Champions League (ACL) West Zone group stage.

The group phase of the competition came to an end last Friday with the Asia’s elite clubs finding the net on a total of 150 occasions across 60 matches.

The AFC’s official website has called on its viewers to vote for their favorite strike of the campaign.

Esteghlal prodigy Mehdi Qayedi made his presence felt in the competition right from the start as his 30-yard screamer led the Tehran-based Blues to a 5-2 rout of Saudi side Al Ahli in their Group C opener, earning the 22-year-old a place in the top-eight list.

Mohammad Abbas-Zadeh of Tractor

Tractor striker Mohammad Abbas-Zadeh also made it to the shortlist with a superb strike during a 3-3 thriller against Uzbekistan’s Pakhtacor. Abbas-Zadeh went past his marker before smashing the ball into the roof of the net for his first of a double in the opening match in Group B.

Persepolis striker Shahriyar Moghanlou

Also on the list is Shahriyar Moghanlou’s goal in a 4-2 beating of Qatar’s Al Rayyan on the final day of Group E. Persepolis frontman tapped in from the edge of box to finish off a counter-attack by the Iranian Reds.

Al Nassr skipper Abderrazak Hamdallah’s lob against Foolad Khuzestan as well as Santi Cazorla’s free-kick for Al Sadd against Al Nassr are also among the contenders.

Brazilian Carlos Eduardo of Shabab Al Ahli Dubai scored with a stunning overhead kick against Uzbek side AGMK for a place in the shortlist.

Sharof Mukhiddinov’s left-footed strike for Pakhtakor against Tractor, and Al Duhail’s Michael Olunga 25-yard free-kick against Al Ahli also have a place in the poll.
