The development of Iranian studies was the main subject of a meeting between the country’s cultural attaché in Armenia and the Sa’di Foundation representative, Seyyed Hossein Tabatabaei, and Vardan Voskanyan, the head of Iranian Studies Chair at the Yerevan State University (YSU) in the Armenian capital.
The two discussed various topics such as scholarship for the best YSU students in the field of research on Iran, exchanging instructors, as well as the compilation of oral history by Armenian Iranologists.
It was also agreed to honor outstanding researchers in Iranian studies with a first-ever Hrachia Acharian Prize – named after late Armenian linguist and philologist – later this year.
They also agreed on holding the first Persian Book Week event in Armenia, with the translation of Persian classic poems into Armenian.
