According to Iran Press, President Hassan Rouhani said his administration's goal was to connect universities to production centers, especially industrial centers, to contact research centers and campuses.
He made the remarks at the online inauguration ceremony of 188 national projects of universities and educational centers affiliated to the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology on Thursday.
"Today we are witnessing the formation of science, technology, and innovation centers in all universities," said the president.
Addressing the same ceremony, Iran’s Minister of Science, Research, and Technology Mansour Gholami said Iran's higher education system, under President Rouhani's administration, has made every effort to use its capacities to reduce the pressures and hardships of oppressive sanctions.
"Today, in most specialized fields, the country's universities can compete with the world's top universities in terms of education and research, and there is an effort to use scientific capacities to reduce the pressures and difficulties resulting from sanctions in higher education," said the minister.
The newly-inauguraed projects, in total, have absorbed 2,375 billion tomans and are expected to make nearly 1000 jobs, IRNA wrote.
