COVID-19 claims 338 more lives in Iran over 24 hours

The number of deaths caused by coronavirus pandemic in Iran exceeded 73,906 with 338 more patients who died by the deadly disease from Wednesday to Thursday, Iran's Health Ministry announced in a statement.

According to the statement, 18,409 new cases of infection with the COVID-19 were detected across the country over the past 24 hours, and 2,441 of them were hospitalized, IRNA reported.

The Iranian Health Ministry added that 2,057,692 patients out of a total of 2,610,018 infected people have recovered or been discharged from hospitals.

Moreover, among those currently undergoing treatment in the country’s medical centers, 5,515 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition, added the statement.

It further noted that 16,652,514 coronavirus diagnostic tests have so far been carried out across the country.

Currently, 102 cities in the country are coded red, 235 cities are orange, and 111 cities are categorized as yellow (low risk).
