Qatar Stars League giants Al Sadd and Al Duhail will be both seeking to sign Esteghlal’s Iranian striker Mehdi Qayedi in the summer, according to the Doha-based newspaper Al Raya.

Qayedi, 22, stole the show in the recent AFC Champions League (ACL) group stage in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he scored three, and made an assist, in six outings to lead Farhad Majidi’s side to a top-spot finish in Group C.

The Iranian, whose contract at Esteghlal runs till 2025, is willing to embark on a new chapter in his career, Varzesh3 reported.

According to the Iranian website, Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk, as well as Russian sides Lokomotiv and Spartak are also considering a move for the Iranian international, who has scored four in 19 matches in the Persian Gulf Pro League this season.

Xavi’s Al Sadd cruised to the Qatari league title last season, followed by Al Duhail. However, both sides had a disappointing ACL campaign, failing to make the last-16 round.
