An international virtual conference on Jean Monnet, entitled ‘The Role of Public Libraries in Social, Economic, and Cultural Development of Iran, with Emphasis on European Countries’ Experiences, will be held on May 19 at Allameh Tabataba’i University.
The event will be held jointly with the European Commission, as part of the International Online Conference on the Jean Monnet Project.
Jean Omer Marie Gabriel Monnet was a French entrepreneur, diplomat, financier, administrator, and political visionary. An influential supporter of European unity, he is considered as one of the founding fathers of the European Union, IRNA wrote.
Esmat Mo’meni, Director of the Department of Information Science and Knowledge of Allameh Tabataba'i University, said, “The purpose of holding an international virtual conference on the role of public libraries in Iran is to emphasize the experiences of European countries in the field of structure, organization, and strategies of public libraries in Iran and Europe; public, specialized and personalized services in public libraries of Iran and Europe; public and civil society libraries in Iran and Europe; review, analysis and design of future services’ development in public libraries in Iran and Europe.”
The conference will include four specialized panels. It will be held virtually on Skyroom platform and all educated and interested people are invited to submit papers and participate in the conference.
