Iran has the potential to be a great tourist attraction for Russian travelers as they are interested in ecotourism, culture and traditions of Iran, said an official on Monday.
Leila Azhdari, director general of tourism marketing at Iran's Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts made the remarks in a meeting with Russian tourism officials, IRNA wrote.
She added that the planned cancelation of visa plays a very important role in expanding tourism ties between the two countries.
At a ceremony on Iran’s southern Kish Island on Saturday, Iranian Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Ali-Asghar Mounesan said that the visa waiver between Iran and Russia is scheduled for the next few days.
Azhdari said that Russia’s private sector announced its tourists are interested in visiting hidden gems of Iran, explaining that it is necessary to inform Russians about Iran’s tourism highlights.
Russians have provided great feedbacks on their trips to Iran on different social media, she said, adding that the positive impression has created enthusiasm among Russians to visit Iran.
“Russian tourists have recently found interest in novel destinations and Iran could be a safe and attractive one for various tastes of tourists,” she said.
