Director of 38th Fajr International Film Festival (FIff) Mehdi Asgarpour said that the festival will open On May 26, however, due to the coronavirus infection, the festival will not have an opening and closing ceremony as it had previously.
The festival will open with a poster exhibition on May 26, featuring posters of films from the 1980s and 1990s, famous Cuban films, as well as screening of a renovated version of Kianoosh Ayari’s film, ‘Beyond the Fire,’ IRNA reported.
Asgarpour made the remarks during the second press conference of the festival, held on May 24, in an online format.
Asgarpour added that the film market of this edition of the festival will be held virtually, with 60 packages in it. Basically, Iranian films will be displayed in this market.
The cultural figure expressed hope that the festival will be held perfectly and would be a role model for other international festivals.
This year’s festival will have two competition sections: Cinema Salvation and Eastern Vista.
Speaking about specialized workshops of the festival, Asgarpour said that the event will host seven international and 14 national workshops.
This year, FIff will open in Tehran on May 26 and run through June 2.
This major film festival was scheduled to be held in April 2020; however, amid growing concerns over the coronavirus, during March 2020, the organizers postponed it to a later time in June, which was also canceled.
Since its establishment in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.
The 39th edition of the national version of the festival was held from January 31 to February 10.
