COVID-19 claims 155 more lives in Iran over past 24 hours

Iran's Health Ministry announced the number of national deaths from coronavirus pandemic increased to 80,813 with 155 more Iranians killed by the deadly disease from Thursday to Friday.

The Ministry said in a statement on Friday that 9,209 new cases of infection with the COVID-19 were identified in the country over the past 24 hours, IRNA reported.

It added that 1,426 patients of the total 9,209 cases were hospitalized across the country.

The Health Ministry noted that 2,522,702 patients out of a total of 2,954,309 infected Iranians have so far recovered or been discharged from hospitals.

Among those undergoing treatment at present in intensive care units, 3,852 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition, added the statement.

It further noted that 20,441,855 coronavirus diagnostic tests have so far been carried out across the country.

The Health Ministry also announced that 4,156,388 people have so far received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while 536,643 others received the second jab.
