Farhadi’s ‘A Hero’ to be screened at Cannes Film Festival

Farhadi’s ‘A Hero’ to be screened at Cannes Film Festival

Iranian film ‘A Hero,’ directed by Asghar Farhadi, will experience its first international screening at the Competition section of the 74th Cannes Film Festival in France.

The Cannes’ list also includes new titles from Wes Anderson, Paul Verhoeven, Nadav Lapid, and Sean Penn.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s taken over a year, but Cannes is back in style for its 74th edition, which will run from July 6 to 17. After having to cancel the 2020 festival because of the novel coronavirus pandemic, Cannes is determined to win back its place as the world’s No. 1 cinema event with an impressive lineup that includes big Hollywood names, art house favorites (Nadav Lapid, Ildikó Enyedi) and plenty of new faces.

Professional Iranian actors Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh, Nader Shahsavari, Fereshteh Sadre-Orafaee and Sarina Farhadi star in Farhadi’s ‘A Hero’.

Although the story for the new movie has been kept under wraps, it has been disclosed to the media that the film will be suspenseful just like Farhadi’s other works such as ‘A Separation’ and ‘The Salesman’.

The world sales of ‘A Hero’ began by Paris-based Memento Films International in February during the European Film Market in Berlin.

Memento Films International, the French production and sales outfit that has collaborated with Farhadi on three of his films (‘The Salesman,’ ‘A Separation,’ and ‘Everybody Knows’), shopped the project to buyers in Berlin, circulating an English-language version of Farhadi’s original Farsi script.

Farhadi screened all his works, including ‘The Past,’ ‘The Salesman’ and ‘Everyone Knows’ at the Cannes Film Festival.
