Iran’s Niavaran Cultural Complex and the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow signed an agreement to expand museum cooperation between the two countries.

Director of Iran’s cultural complex, Alireza Sharifi, and director of the Russian museum, Marina Loshak, agreed to exchange experiences and museum knowledge, IRNA reported.

Holding joint exhibitions, training workshops and exchanging experts are among the articles of the deal.

Iranian Minister of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Ali-Asghar Mounesan said that Iran’s visa waiver and the newly-signed museum deal are the starting points of more cultural interactions between the countries.

He made the statement during his visit to the Russian museum on Tuesday.

He added, “Iran and Russia have ancient, valuable and influential history in the world, and with better communication we can improve our cultural ties.”

Mounesan described the Pushkin museum as one of the most valuable museums in the world.

He specified that the Iran’s part in this museum houses items from 2,000 years ago.

Speaking about the Niavaran Cultural Complex, the minister added that it is also a very valuable attraction that is visited by a large number of foreign tourists every year.

Loshak said that she has fine memories of Iran and its people while she visited Iran some years ago, and hoped that the people of each country would receive appropriate knowledge of the other.

The Russian museum has one of the most representative collections in Russia of foreign art, dating from ancient times to the present. The exposition of the Museum includes a vast collection of tinted plaster casts of famous ancient, medieval and Renaissance sculptures, and a collection of original works of foreign artists, sculptors and graphics, along with objects of decorative arts.
