Iran’s Parliament vows close cooperation with president-elect

Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf promised that the legislative body would do its utmost to cooperate with the administration of President-elect Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi.

In comments at Parliament’s Monday session, Qalibaf pledged that the Parliament will employ all of its capacities for rapport, full cooperation, and synergy with Raeisi’s administration, Tasnim News Agency reported.

Highlighting the Parliament’s efforts to fulfill its responsibilities while respecting the independence of the other branches of power, he expressed hope that effectual cooperation with the next administration would yield tangible results in the settlement of people’s problems and allow the public to experience the services offered by the revolutionary forces.

Raeisi, who is the incumbent Judiciary chief, won the June 18 presidential election by a landslide.

The president-elect had announced in his election campaign that he has put on agenda securing the removal of the sanctions imposed by the US on the Iranian nation, stressing that the domestic economy must be fortified in the face of the sanctions or any other shock that may hit the country in the future.

Raeisi said on June 9 that the current economic conditions in the country were “unacceptable” as the people are not able to predict their financial situation due to constant fluctuations.
