According to Mousavi, relations between Iran and Azerbaijan have been developing in a very sincere and upward trajectory in recent years.
The principled policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to maintain sincere relations with all neighbors, especially Azerbaijan.
The envoy added that the main goal between the two countries is to increase trade and develop economic relations.
Serious steps have been taken to develop relations with Azerbaijan in the government of the current Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, the official said.
Over the past 3-4 weeks, three Iranian ministers – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami and Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian – have visited Azerbaijan. In return, Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev has visited Iran,” he said.
President Rouhani’s Chief of Staff Mahmoud Vaezi said on Saturday that his country is optimistic about the future of relations with Azerbaijan.
He made the remark in a meeting with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Iran Bunyad Huseynov.
According to him, at present, there are no problems in relations, with the positive will of the presidents of the two countries.
Vaezi added that both countries are following the process of strengthening cooperation with a positive outlook. Currently, companies and the private sectors of the two countries are implementing joint projects in various fields.
The official noted that Iran and Azerbaijan have opportunities for cooperation in various fields. The two neighboring countries have comprehensive and rapid development of relations and can meet each other’s needs in all areas.
Vaezi stressed the importance of liberating the territories of Azerbaijan.
“Iran is ready to participate in the restoration of these territories so that these territories are quickly handed over to the people, and peace and stability are established in the region,” he said.
