Vaccine jabs hit 5.48m across Iran

Iran’s Health Ministry announced in a statement that people have so far received 5,481,669 doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the latest figures released by the ministry, 1,069,565 people have been fully vaccinated by receiving the second dose, Mehr News Agency reported on Thursday.

11,734 new infections have been detected in Iran from Wednesday to Thursday. Out of the total new patients, 1,342 cases have been hospitalized.

The virus claimed 144 lives in the past 24 hours across the country.

Among those receiving medical treatment, 3,225 patients are in critical condition and the total death toll has hit 83,473 since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in late February 2020.

More than 3.14 million infections have been confirmed since the deadly virus hit the country while 2.79 million have recovered.
