Gas pipeline explosion kills three, injures four in SW Iran

An explosion has been reported in an oil field in the western Ilam Province killing and injuring seven people.

The explosion occurred at Cheshmeh Khosh field, 52km south of Dehloran provincial city, on Tuesday afternoon, Mehr News Agency Reported.

Accordign to the latest reports, the number of the killed has so far increased to three people and the injured to four.

The killed and the injured are local workers from Dehloran.

The incident took place 20km from the provincial city of Shoush on the Cheshmeh Khosh oil pipeline to Ahvaz.

It is said that the personnel had been carrying out the “pipeline inspection gauge” operation when the pipeline blew up.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh has called on the national oil company to immediately conduct an investigation into the incident.

The minister has also called for helping the injured workers and the families of the deceased workers and engineers to alleviate their suffering.
