A man named Chad was filmed diving into a wide river to rescue the fawn, which had somehow found itself swept up by the current and struggling to keep its head above the water, mirror.co.uk wrote.
The video was posted on TikTok and in the clip, Chad can be seen stripping off his clothes in preparation for jumping into the water as his friends express their concerns for the animal.
One woman says: “Oh my god, it’s going to die!” to which Chad insists: “I’m not going to let him die.”
He then dives into the water and swims toward the struggling fawn, while his pals watch on nervously.
When the man grabs hold of the deer, one of his friends excitedly shouts: “He got him!”
Chad can then be seen climbing back onto dry land with the baby deer in his arms, before carrying it safely away from the water.
The clip has been viewed over 4 million times, and Chad has since posted several follow-ups on TikTok to keep people updated on the fawn’s progress.
One post shows a slideshow of pictures of Chad with the baby deer, including snaps of the fawn in the man’s car as he drives it back to the wilderness.
A second video then shows Chad releasing the fawn back into the wild.
The original post has received thousands of comments, with many people praising the man for his heroic efforts.

While a second added: “You are awesome we need more people like you in this world.”
