In a meeting between Belgian Ambassador to Tehran Véronique Petit and head of the National Library and Archives of Iran (NLAI) Ashraf Boroujerdi, the Belgian side highlighted the need for the continuation of cultural ties between the two countries.

According to ISNA, Petit talked about the mechanism of translating and publishing joint works.

Expressing her pleasure at meeting with the director of the Iranian library, the Belgian envoy said, “Translation and publication of books are effective in developing cooperation between the two countries, and we hope to see wider interactions in the future.”

Petit noted, “I welcome the proposal of creating a special corner for Belgium in the international hall of the Iranian library and also to create a similar corner for Iran in the Royal Library of Belgium (Belgium’s national library).”

Boroujerdi said that the efforts of the Belgian ambassador in the publication and translation of joint books are appreciated and the Iranian library will take the necessary measures to complete this great idea.”

She added, “I believe that cultural interactions with different countries have significant effects on the preservation of culture among nations.”

Speaking about joint events, Boroujerdi said that an art exhibition titled ‘Iran at the Beginning of the Twentieth Century,’ displaying historical documents on Iran’s customs, collected by Lambert Molitor, Belgian co-founder of Iran’s customs in the early years of the 20th century, had been previously held at the Iranian library on 2018.
