A sedan car jointly manufactured by Iran and Azerbaijan was unveiled in Baku on Thursday by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

The car, brand named ‘Khazar,’ was uncovered during a ceremony attended by a group of the family members of the victims of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, IRNA reported.

Heavy fighting over Nagorno-Karabakh broke out on September 27, 2020, and marked the biggest escalation of the decades-old conflict between the two ex-Soviet nations in more than a quarter century, killing hundreds and possibly thousands of people.

The joint automobile factory of Iran’s major carmaker, Iran Khodro Company (IKCO) and its Azerbaijani counterpart, AzerMash, was launched in 2016 in the Azerbaijan Republic.

Khazar manufacturing factory was inaugurated in a ceremony in the presence of Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani and President Aliyev in March 2018.
