Iran was drawn in Pool B of the 2021 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship alongside Hong Kong, Thailand, and Pakistan.

The Asian powerhouse will begin its title defense in Japan against Hong Kong on September 12, before taking on Thailand and Pakistan on the following days respectively.

The host was pitted in Pool A against India, Qatar, and Bahrain, with Australia – runner-up in 2019 – facing China, Sri Lanka, and Kuwait in Pool C.

Pool D will see South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan, and Saudi Arabia squaring off for knockout spots.

Iran will be represented by its second team, coached by Behrouz Ataei, in the event, as it comes less than a month after the Tokyo Olympics, where Iran will be steered by Russian head coach Vladimir Alekno in Pool A against Japan, Poland, Italy, Venezuela, and Canada.
