Leader of the Islamic Revolution Seyyed Ali Khamenei received the second jab of the domestically produced vaccine on Friday.
According to Leader’s official website, Khamenei.ir, Ayatollah Khamenei received the second dose of 'COVIran Barakat' vaccine, developed by the Headquarters for Executing the Order of the Imam, a charitable organization headed by Mohammad Mokhber, Friday morning.
The Leader received the first dose of the COVIran Barekat jab, developed by the Headquarters for Executing the Order of the Imam, a charitable organization headed by Mohammad Mokhber, on June 25.
Human injection of the first phase of clinical studies of the first coronavirus vaccine, made by Iranian researchers called COVIran Barekat, began on December 29, 2020.
Iranian scientists and experts have succeeded in developing several vaccines against the coronavirus, despite the cruel sanctions imposed by the US.
The Leader had set two prior conditions for using the coronavirus vaccine, insisting not to receive the vaccine outside the schedule that had been devised for the rest of Iranians in the first place, and secondly, receiving only Iranian vaccines.
Speaking after receiving his first jab, Ayatollah Khamenei said, ““I did not want to use non-Iranian vaccines, so I said I would wait for the Iranian vaccine. Because we should respect this national honor. As long as there is a possibility of prevention and treatment inside the country, why shouldn’t we use it?”
