Iran routed Venezuela in straight sets for their second victory at the volleyball competitions of the Tokyo Olympics.
Having beaten Poland in a five-set thriller on the first day of the Games, Vladimir Alekno’s men had a much easier job against their South American opponents, marching to victory 25-17, 25-20, 25-18 at Ariake Arena.

Ghafour was again the most prolific player in the Iranian outfit, chipping in 16 points – including two aces – followed by Salehi, who tallied 13 points.
Willner Rivas had 15 points for Venezuela.
Also in Pool A, Poland came out victorious against Italy in straight sets (25-20, 26-24, 25-20).
Iran will next square off against Canada on Wednesday, before facing Italy and the hosts in the final two games in the group phase.
