Iran's Milad Ebadipour was selected as the best receiver of the group stage of the Tokyo Olympics men’s volleyball tournament.
The group stage of the tourney came to an end on Sunday and Iran, the United States, Venezuela and Tunisia were eliminated, varzesh3.com reported.
Iran, which played in Pool B, won two out of its five matches, against powerhouse Poland and Venezuela, and was defeated by Canada, Italy and Japan, with the last game against the Nippon being a do-or-die marathon.
Ebadipour played a significant role in his side’s victories and managed to put in a good performance in other matches.
Other best players of the group stage include: Argentina’s Bruno Lima (top scorer and best attacker), Brazil’s Saatkamp (best blocker), Poland’s Wilfredo León (best server), and the United Sates' Micah Christenson (best setter).
The quarterfinals of the event see Russian Olympic Committee square off against Canada, with the host playing Brazil.
Also today, Poland will face France, while Italy meets Argentina.
