Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei appointed Rear Admiral Shahram Irani as the new commander of the Army’s Navy.
In his decree, issued on Tuesday, Ayatollah Khamenei said the appointment was made upon a suggestion by the Commander-in-Chief of the Army Seyyed Abdol-Rahim Mousavi.
Rear Admiral Irani, 54, replaces Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi, who had assumed the post in November 2017.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the new Navy commander, who has risen in the Leader’s decree to the rank of rear admiral, was appointed due to his commitment and valuable work experience.
The Leader stressed the need for “serious efforts to use capacities” of the Navy, the Army and other military forces for “revolutionary progress” of the Armed Forces.
Ayatollah Khamenei also stressed the need for boosting all-out preparedness and power of the Armed forces.
The Leader further appreciated Rear Admiral Khanzadi's efforts as the previous Army's Navy commander.
