Iran’s freestyle wrestlers bag three medals at World Junior Wrestling Championship

Iran’s junior freestyle wrestlers have pocketed two golds and one bronze medals in the 2021 World Junior Wrestling Championship, currently underway in Russia.

On the 2nd day of the event and in the 70kg Category, Erfan Elahi claimed Iran's 1st gold medal, defeating Dzhabrail Gadzhiev of Azerbaijan 4-1 in the final.

Moreover, Mohammad Nokhodi bagged 2nd gold after beating another Azerbaijan grappler 7-5 in the 79 kg category final while Ali Abdullahi won a bronze medal for Iran in the 97kg category as well.

Meanwhile, four other Iranian junior wrestlers in different weight classes have advanced to the final, and are to fight for gold medals on Wednesday.

The 2021 World Junior Wrestling Championship is underway in Ufa, Russia from August 16-22.

The tournament is hosted by United World Wrestling with more than 500 athletes across 52 different countries competing for Gold.
