Iranian cartoonist Pakdel wins award at Serbian contest

Iranian cartoonist Alireza Pakdel, who is also an illustrator and designer, received an award from the 21st Kragujevac Salon of Antiwar Cartoon in Serbia.

Pakdel’s artwork won the Bielsko-Biała Award among the 987 works by 469 cartoonists from 47 countries that were submitted to the event, Mehr News Agency wrote.

Iranian cartoonist Masoud Shojaei-Tabatabaei chaired the jury members of the 21st edition of the Serbian contest.

Pakdel is a caricaturist, illustrator, cartoonist and character designer born in the Iranian city of Mashhad in 1981. He started working on caricatures in 1994, collaborating with many important Iranian journals like Golagha, Keyhan caricature and many more.

Among his prizes are the first prize at the PAPB International Cartoon Festival in Indonesia, the Grand Prix of the World Press Cartoon, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious annual press cartoon contests held in Lisbon, Portugal, the Grand Prize at the International Humor Exhibition of Piracicaba in Brazil, the Special Award at the Aydin Dogan International Cartoon Competition in Turkey, and the Special Award of the International Cartoon Contest on Ecology and Global Warming, “1.5° C”, in Russia.
