Now mums have shared their kids' disastrous attempts at DIY (do it yourself) haircuts ahead of their return to school, dailystar.co.uk wrote.
Hilarious snaps show kids snipping gaping holes in their fringes and even cutting uneven dos to look fresh for the classroom.
While one schoolboy went to the extreme measure of trimming his eyelashes... Oops!
Another kid cut off her long brown locks to a shoulder length mullet with a tiny fringe when her mum's back was turned.
Despite the questionable haircuts, most of the kids returned to the classroom happy with their new barnets.
Pauline Renwick, 39, from Galashiels, Scotland, says her eight-year-old son Harris instantly regretted his DIY cut.

She said: "He claims he doesn't know how it happens and keeps blaming his younger brother Blair!
"He wasn't overly impressed when he saw himself in the mirror.
"The odd thing was he had just been to the barbers a few days before for his back-to-school cut."
Daniela Do Vale, 24, revealed what happened with her three-year-old who snipped off his eyelashes.
She added: "Mark said he didn't want any 'eye wings anymore'. I didn't take much notice of it as kids say random stuff.
"The next morning Mark jumped into my bed and I looked at him as he laid down and noticed his lashes – well the lack of them!
"So, I asked him and he instantly blamed his sister Chantelle but she denied it.
"I asked him again and he said 'I told you Mummy I don't want any eye wings anymore.
"I know some kids play around and give themselves haircuts but this is definitely a new take on it!"
Meanwhile Caroline Moore, 42, also had to deal with her three-year-old giving herself a DIY haircut.

Speaking about Rebecca who cut a gaping hole in her fridge, she said: "I have no idea why she did it.
"But she's very proud of it and keeps showing everyone what she did."
