Iran made a quick work of claiming a second consecutive victory at the 2021 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship in Japan, storming to a straight-set win against Thailand on Monday.
The defending champion routed the South-East Asian side 25-17 in the first set before rounding off the victory with 25-12 and 25-18 triumphs in the next two sets.
Saber Kazemi, Amir-Hossein Toukhteh, Ali-Asghar Mojarrad, Milad Ebadipour, Meisam Salehi, Javad Karimi, and Mohammadreza Hazratpour (libero) started the game for Iran.
Iran had beaten Hong Kong, also in straight sets (25-12, 25-18, 25-19), on the opening day of the competition.
The final day of the group phase sees Iran square off against Pakistan for the top spot in Pool B.
Pakistan, which had labored to victory over Thailand in five sets on the opening day, beat Hong Kong 3-1 (25-15, 24-26, 25-11, 25-12) earlier on Monday.
