Iranian, Tajik labor ministers discuss promotion of bilateral ties

Iranian Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Hojjatollah Abdolmaleki and Tajik Minister of Labor, Migration and Employment Shirin Shodi Amonzoda called for development of Tehran-Dushanbe cooperation.

Reviewing issues of mutual interest in a videoconference with his Tajik counterpart, Abdolmaleki said we can use the existing capacities of the two ministries to improve the level of relations between the two countries, IRNA reported on Saturday.

The Iranian labor minister went on to say that we can jointly work in many areas, including labor relations, labor exchange, and technical and vocational training.

Abdolmaleki emphasized that the signing of a memorandum of understanding can be very effective in regulating labor market policies, legal employment of labor in the two countries and social support for them.

The Tajik minister for her part stressed the need for an action plan to implement deals between two sides and welcomed the establishment of a joint committee between the two ministries.

Amonzoda also pointed to the common culture and language of the two countries, saying, “These cases help to establish strategic cooperation between the two countries.”

In another meeting with Minister of Health and Social Protection of Tajikistan Abdulozoda Jamoliddin Abdullo in Dushanbe on Saturday, Abdolmaleki expressed Iran’s readiness for maintaining cooperation with Tajikistan on joint social support fields.

Iran attaches importance to Tajikistan with regard to regional ties, he added.

Abdolmaleki referred to capacities for establishing cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan, saying his ministry is ready for reinforcing interactions with Tajikistan in various fields.

He also hailed both countries’ valuable experiences in the welfare and empowerment of the disabled.

“Iran is ready to exchange experiences in reducing social damage, protection of breadwinning women, insurance, and the pension system,” the Iranian minister said.

He expressed Iran’s readiness to establish joint cooperation with Tajikistan in producing and packaging medicines.

Iran welcomes cooperation with Tajikistan in fighting COVID-19, Abdolmaleki stated.

Abdullo for his part expressed appreciation for Iran sending humanitarian aid to Tajikistan in time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He hailed signing a memorandum of understanding with Iran on social services, saying the document will be based on international law and principles and its implementation is a priority in Tajikistan’s foreign policy.
