Two players of the Persian Gulf Pro League club Persepolis were selected among the members of the Team of the Round of the AFC Champions League (ACL) 2021 round of 16.
At the end of the ACL’s round of 16, the AFC selected the top 11 players, among which were Persepolis wingers Mehdi Torabi and Saeed Aghaei, IRNA reported.
Torabi scored a late winner against Tajikistan’s FC Istiklol, already selected by the-afc.com among the top five goals of the ACL round of 16, and Aghaei played a significant role in helping his sides win the match.
Other players of the Team of Round of 16 are Jakub Świerczok and Shinnosuke Nakatani (Nagoya Grampus), Matheus Pereira (Al Hilal), Gustavo and Paik Seung-ho and Lee Yong (Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors), Cesinha (Daegu FC), Oleksiy Larin (Istiklol) and Chatchai Budprom (BG Pathum United).
The eight teams that have reached the ACL quarterfinal are Al Wahda FSCC (UAE), Al Nassr FC (KSA), Persepolis (IRN), Al Hilal SFC (KSA), Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (KOR), Ulsan Hyundai FC (KOR), Pohang Steelers (KOR) and Nagoya Grampus (JPN).
