Today, the enemy is suffering from a strategic dilemma as its economic siege on Iran has failed and it has become increasingly incapable, said the chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
Addressing a ceremony on Wednesday, Major General Hossein Salami added the ideology adopted by late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, and Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei helped belittle major global powers in the eyes of the Iranian people, IRNA reported.
He said the US is no longer what it was 10, 20 and 30 years ago, stressing that the Zionists are also no longer the same powerful aggressors that occupied Muslims’ land.
Even their henchmen have lost their vigor and energy, the major general added.
The IRGC chief noted that this comes as Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution is moving ahead energetically and vivaciously at full strength, emphasizing today, the balance of power has tilted in Iran’s favor thanks to the country’s eight-year (1980-88) Sacred Defense against the Iraqi-imposed war, in the absence of which Muslims would not have achieved this victory and the present level of dominance.
Without a role model it is impossible to pave long distances and without taking the first steps, no long journey begins, he said.
Major General Salami noted, “We had to take the initial steps strongly to be able to gain self-confidence, develop trust in God and believe divine victory.”
He said, “We needed a role model. The Sacred Defense provided the Iranian and non-Iranian youths with the talent and capacity to realize that major powers are as fragile and vincible as they seem big. This is quite evident.”
The top commander noted that it was the uprising of Imam Hussein (PBUH) – the third Imam of Shia Muslims – and his faithful companions against cruelty and the tyrannical regime of their time that inspired and created the Sacred Defense, which is an endless resistance still running through the veins of the Iranian society.
Reiterating the enemy’s failure in achieving its targets, Major General Salami said the global arrogance employed all its strategies and attacked Iranian people from all angles.
The global arrogance, he added, targeted Iranian people’s culture and invaded their hearts, adding however, the country’s youths have always been cognizant and never gave up in the face of the enemy’s psychological warfare.
Addressing a ceremony to honor Iranian war veterans on Tuesday, Major General Salami said the Iranian people’s enemies are suffering a steady decline and fleeing the region.
He added the country’s Sacred Defense was not solely a historical event that has ended but a reality still running through the veins of the society.
At present, he said, the Iranian people are resisting against Washington’s unilateral sanctions, the pressures of the US and Western countries’ psychological warfare and heavy media and propaganda campaign, and have managed to doom the sanctions to failure.
The IRGC chief also said the Iranian people have broken the wall of the sanctions, preventing them from achieving the targets they have been designed for.
“The more the enemy tries to approach the Iranian people, the more distant they grow from it, which is among the blessings of the same spirit of resilience reflected by the nation during the Sacred Defense years.”
The IRGC chief said the major global powers are steadily waning, adding, “This has been proved to us. We sincerely believe it.”
He gave the assurance that under the guidance of Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, the great people of Iran, the 1979 Islamic Revolution and Islam will achieve victory, noting that it is not just a wish or feeling but an observable reality.
