Iran’s MSC breaks own daily steel output after energy restrictions lifted: CEO

The Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC) in central Iranian province of Isfahan set a new daily production of 146 batches equal to 26,100 tons of slabs, announced the company managing director on Friday.

Hamidreza Azimian said that the MSC could not reach its steelmaking capacity in the last two months due to severe energy restrictions, but as soon as the energy restrictions were lifted, it increased its production and set the daily production record, tabnak.ir reported.

The former daily production record of the company was achieved on April 20 with 25,950 tons of slabs, said the MSC head.

He acknowledged: "Returning to production after significantly reduction in output, requires a lot of energy and organization of all equipment, which MSC was successful in fulfillment of this important issue."

Azimian added although due to the limitations we experienced in summer and the limitations that we will have in winter, we will move away from the planned programs, but we will do our best to compensate for the delays.

The company's steelmaking sector faced drop in production, but the MSC made the most of this opportunity and overhauls to get ready for further production, he said.

The official went on to say that as a result of these measures, after lifting energy restrictions, a new record was set and the quality of the company's products exceeded its previous levels.

Azimian concluded that setting this record means a production capacity of more than 8.5 million tons of steel per year has been achieved for his company.
