Iranian Film Days, organized by Iran’s Embassy in Baku, is underway on the occasion of Sacred Defense Week to introduce the achievements of Iranian cinema on the eight years of defense against Iraq’s invasion (1980-88) on YouTube online video sharing and social media platform.
The cultural event will run through September 26, according to IRNA.
‘Bodyguard,’ ‘Track 143,’ ‘Dinner Time,’ ‘Abadan’ and ‘The Lost Strait,’ which were dubbed in Azerbaijani language, are screened at the event.
Azerbaijani artists believe that it is better to have dubbed films rather than subtitled ones because subtitling the films destroys the audience’s motivation to watch the works, and the message of the film will not be conveyed properly.
According to the directors and cinematographers of Azerbaijan, social and family films made in Iran can have a large audience in Azerbaijan, and Iranian filmmakers such as Ebrahim Hatamikia, Asghar Farhadi, Ali Hatami, Dariush Mehrjui convey social, religious and cultural concepts.
