The administration and Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) are committed to the implementation of the Parliament’s strategic action plan for removing US sanctions and protecting Iranians’ interests within the framework of the 2015 nuclear deal, said the AEOI chief.
Mohammad Eslami made the remarks in an address to reporters following a Sunday meeting with the members of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, IRNA reported.
“Today, I attended the committee’s meeting and presented the latest report on the implementation of the plan,” he said.
In December 2020, lawmakers overwhelmingly endorsed the outlines of a strategic action plan aiming to counteract US sanctions on Iranian people and safeguard their interests.
The action plan was approved following US withdrawal from the nuclear deal and, then, reimposition of the unilateral sanctions on Iran and in response to Europe’s inability to safeguard the Islamic Republic’s interests within the framework of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), signed between Tehran and P5+1 in 1995.
The action plan obliges the Iranian government to retaliate other parties’ failure to honor their JCPOA pledges through a phased reduction of the country’s nuclear commitments.
Eslami stressed that different issues were discussed in the meeting regarding the enforcement of the law and it was decided to make maximum use of the remaining opportunities to fully implement it.
